What is the role of a volunteer? Is a skillful volunteer a luxury or a necessity? Should a parent be considered as a volunteer? These are some of the themes that were discussed in a half day seminar ‘Engaging skillful volunteers’. A mix of foreign and local experts presented ideas and best practices that can assist sports organisations to enhance participation for future of volunteering.

European Youth Sport Forum

SportMalta in collaboration with the European Commission and the European Non-Governmental Sport Organisations (ENGSO) organised the European Youth Sport Forum in Malta. This was an excellent opportunity for young leaders around Europe to voice their opinions and recommendations to the European Institutions on Sport. Malta in line with its priority of social inclusion will also invite young leaders from the northern part of Africa and together with Europeans discuss common issues and present recommendations for the future. Discussions, presentations, workshops, sport activities and social gatherings made this forum, a fruitful event to be remembered.

European Sport Forum

The European sport forum is a meeting which gathers sports and policy investors in Europe. Important representatives from international and European sport federations, European and national sport umbrella organisations, the Olympic movement, and other sport related organisations attend this forum organised by the European Commission with the collaboration of SportMalta.
The fantastic location chosen for this Forum hosted important stakeholders to discuss themes that go around the world of sport. Tibor Navracsics the European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport will addressed the Forum.

Director's General meeting

The 28 Director Generals of the EU Members States together with the European Commission and the Council Secretariat had a two day informal meeting in Malta as part of its Presidency.
Member states discussed relevant issues and exchange best practices in an informal set up. During the meeting, Malta presented projects related to its priorities of social inclusion and volunteering.
The meeting was also an excellent opportunity for bilateral exchanges and an excellent way to network between all EU Countries.
There was also a side programme of sport and cultural activities that gave participants a taste of what Malta is all about.
